Today I Met...
...an old friend: someone from my past who still feels like home. We grew up in the same village, shared the same school, even the same bus, until university.
Then life took us down different paths.
It had been more than ten years, maybe closer to twenty, since we last spoke and our most recent contact was a brief message from a few years back. Nothing since.
Today, by pure chance, we crossed paths again. We hugged; something we’d never done before.
Maybe it’s age that makes such gestures feel so meaningful now, or perhaps it’s just the quiet way the body remembers what words can’t quite express: I missed you.
We talked as if no time had passed: easy, light, full of laughter. He was as warm and genuine as I remembered, and hearing his voice again stirred something deep inside me. I didn’t want it to end. When we parted, there was a quiet ache, the kind that lingers when you realize how much you still care.
Some connections never fade. You don’t need constant updates or grand gestures, just a moment, a memory, a simple “hello.” But they’re worth keeping alive.
Invest in them. Because when they bloom again, they carry more than nostalgia, they carry belonging.
Today I met an old friend of mine.
